if your referring to the clipping diodes d4 and d5, you can do the following and get good results: keep the stock diodes then a 47pf cap across them will make the sound "creamer or smoother" but still distorted which to my ear sounds like a marshall.
if you change d4 to a LED then add the 47 pf cap across you get a louder, creamier sound which can almost clean up to heavy drive tones, like having a sd-1 and a ds-1 in one pedal. at least to my ears its sounds good.
