If you REALLY want to go cheap on this, like $23, there's the
Behringer BDI21, which does (or claims to) precisely what you ask and adds Mesa in the deal. Whatever you think of the results (I find it too noisy), its a
huge amount of pedal for the money.
It's a somewhat interpretive adaptation of the
SansAmp GT2, minus the expensive TLC2262 OpAmps.
Compare them in the YouTube video linked from the first site and see if you're convinced.
