The vibe is working pretty good for me. Mine does have that volume increase when I kick it on, but I remedy that by turning down my volume knob a bit before it kicks in. Since I like to use my volume knob alot, it doesn't really affect me as much. As far as a treble boost, I really don't get that. How a bout a slight delay before the effect kicks in, do you get that too?
