Good Call on the SG revival threads over the years I've a bunch of 'em.
For years they fell out of favour w/me for some reason started to sound too mushy sounding to me...and then I rediscovered the the SG with p-90s. Especially the recent reissue of the SG Batwing pickguard Special other wise known as the SG Classic.
The Classics when compared straight up w/ the old specials definetly look and feel like a more sophisticated guitar than the late '60's vintage ones...of course the tunomatic bridge and stop tailpiece, articulate fret work and deep neck angle certainly class up the act from the originals that feel and look a bit clunky in comparison.
