I have a Dynacomp years ago that sounded great to me, so I bought one a couple of years ago, but it didn't sound right. The compression was ok, but it tonally did something to my sound that I didn't like. That's when I bought a Dynacomp with the Monte Allum mods done to it. This thing is perfect to me. It sounds like my guitar without any color to the tone, and the compression is nice. I don't put to much on. Maybe 10 o'clock on the sustain knob, and set the volume to be where I want my leads to be at and leave it. It ads good natural sounding sustain, and brings up the notes a little, but if I want to pick light at make it a little quieter for dynamics, I still can. Now I might have gotten a really good one and been lucky, but I'm hoping that's not the case. You can get used Dyna Comps on Ebay usually around $45 to $50, then pay $22 to get the Monte Allums mods, and mod it yourself. Around $70 total cast plus shipping.
