I'm shopping for one now-my Dynacomp just isn't cutting it-too much squish. I'm leaning towards the Keeley 4-knob model, which I loved and got great slide tones with using my Tele on some tracks for a band record last summer. I read great things about the Pigtronix Philosopher's Tone in last month's Guitar Player (although that alone makes me suspicious)...has anyone used the Pigtronix unit yet? It's the 'blend' knob that appeals the most-so I'll be looking at the Barber Tone Press as well. I'm after Mark Knopfler's early tone on things like 'Lady Writer' for squish, and a little extra sustain and evenness for slide lines.
Any help, esp about the Pigtronix unit would be greatly appreciated...
