I do know that Watco has been bought by one of the big boys and is evolving into a mass market product for Lowe's and Home Depot as opposed to being a high end product.
I disagree, Ian. Acrylic lacquers dry crispy hard and inflexible. Nitros continue to expand and contract over time. If you spray acrylic over nitro, first the offgasses in the nitro will be trapped and you may get blush. Secondly (and crucially) the acrylic will refuse to expand while the nitro underneath it does, and it will crack. And it does not look authentic or cool - it just means a gigantic mess.
