O.K., I have rigged up a live recording dealio:
M-Audio MicroTrack 48/96 with external add-on mic, an Audio Technica AT822 Stereo Condenser Mic (the MT has a cute li'l plug-in stereo electret mic, but I wanted something with more "beef"). Mounted on a boom micstand with a cellphone holder & arm assembly from Ram Mounting Systems. One of the complaints about the MicroTrack is that it has no tripod or other type of mount connection. I agree - this sucks. The arrangement I found works very well, though.
Recorded our outdoor trio gig at The River:
Results - Sounds EXCELLENT! The M-Audio is a nice little unit - hooks up to my PC via USB for file dumps or streaming review. I disagree with some complaints I've seen online that it's "cheap" feeling, because it's plastic. It's very light - and I like that. It's put together well - as I don't plan on pounding nails with it, I don't forsee any issues.
