It may just be a loose connection, maybe involving the input/output jacks which is an easy fix for any tech. Is there a decent amp repair place in your area? Most of the time they can also fix pedals. It's worth a shot, I hate to see you spend $200 when you could have fixed the one you have for about $30. Also, there are qualified people here on the TDPRI that can probably troubleshoot the problem.
