jazztele, i'm with you, Ted Greene's 'Chord Chemistry' is an invaluable resource. However if your new to chords it can seem a little hardcore and daunting as it does assume you know a little bit about chords and theory already (this is mentioned in the books intro anyway!!!), but saying that... learning how chords are built... means you can know virtually any chord anywhere... kinda cool huh?!
