This has always been the sticking point for me. I play clean on the edge of break-up or medium gain tones. I will never slam ss amps and I completely respect those who can make them work in their situation. For me however an amp is as much of an instrument as the guitar itself. I personally just have better control over the dynamics of my sound when using a tube amp and I just prefer the way they react to my playing style.
