my girlfriend graduated from UNC-Asheville today with a distinction in literature. i'm pretty proud of her!

but man . . . when i graduate, they can mail me my degree. it will be quicker. we got there at 9 a.m. three horrible musical events and eighteen speeches later, they started handing out the degrees . . . all 600 of them . . .

the first bad musical event was the singing of the alma mater. the singer sounded like a cross between an american idol and a southpark character.

then there was a "choir" that "sang" a really hideous gospel song, "accompanied" by what sounded uncannily like a casio 3-octave keyboard.

why is it graduation music is so bad? why can't they just get somebody up there with a tele and a DR and let us just enjoy the tone for awhile?
