I write "Return to Sender" in black marker on junk mail and put it back in the mailbox unopened. I very rarely get junkmail any longer.

I'd be wary of being a jerk to telemarketers on the phone. If you peeve off the phone operator enough some of them have ways to make sure you get even more calls.
