the Auroras made a HUGE difference - even using it's clock made a huge difference when mixing other people's stuff
I have a pair of vintage API 312s - and a pair of vintage Neves that Brent Averill racked for me. Also a single vintage Trident A-Range pre which is killer - and then a UA pair and a Sytek when I just need more inputs. Compressors are a distressor , an 1176 , and a bunch of DBX 160xts.. Thats about it - I used to have a lot more but I've gotten really good w/ plug-ins and I mix so many outside projects, it's makes recall simple
I DO still use some outboard analog delays and older Lexicon verbs on almost every mix but those i/os are fixed in my patchbay and so all the recalls come back perfect
When I stepped up to the HD rig ( along w/ the Auroras and a new Mac Pro ) - the differnce in my work (coming from a 002 and Rosetta ) was simply staggering !!
all of a sudden , it was all about "the music". No computer issues - no error messages - it was the best thing I ever did. It also got me a LOT more work
