I also had a Steelcase desk a long time ago. The only difference was instead of drawers on both sides, mine had a door on one side that had a spring loaded tray for a typewriter. Like the first one here.
I think my parents bought it as a military surplus. The thing weighed a ton and we left it in my room in the basement when we moved. But it was great.
