I was at a local music store today where a friend of mine works and they have a couple of the Joe Strummer Teles. I told him that I had read here on the boards that the relic job is actually some kind of wrap or something but after looking at both of them, although they are very similar, they're not identical. So, what's the deal on these things? I think they have a terrible looking (and feeling) relic job on them but does anyone have the actual scoop on how they do these mass produced relic jobs? I thought too that it might be some sort of overlay but after inspecting two of them side by side I dont think that's the case... Anyone have any ideas or, better yet, know for sure how they're done?
