I am of the opinion that the guitars up to the early 90's are all very similar, action, body the whole deal. I have an 88 , a friend just came across an 85 , another friend has one from 90 and yes..another friend. has one from 85 or 86. If you closed your eyes and they all had the same gauge new strings they would feel really really close to each other, all have 7.5 radius roundish necks. When you open your eyes you can pick mine out right away, it has the least attractive piece of wood ( body ) and the most wear. But in all fairness it had some dings when I bought it so I did not need to ding protect it for it's life, it is a work horse for me. .

Now, I have found for me, the newer guitars feel different, too much nitro, the action feels different, so for me early 90's or older would be what I would chase.
