I have a chimy, twangy 60s style pickup in the bridge position, and a stock Am. Std. neck pickup. The 60s pickup is quite a bit more trebly than the stock Am. Std. bridge pup.

Either way, there's a wonderful control on Teles called the Tone knob.

I often have the bridge pup selected and have rolled the tone knob back to 50%-65% and there's plenty of tone. But then when I flick to the neck pickup it sounds muddy.

My 1 second fix?

Roll the tone knob back open again. Clears up the sound great. Open'er right up and it'll sound close to that compressed, snarling and shimmering Strat neck pup sound.

Just my two cents
