The best and most infamous example of this (probably also the first), was when Syd Barrett (lead singer of Pink Floyd) was on "Top of the Pops" (UK TV show that featured pop artists) and just stood there with a disturbing, blank stare on his face while the song played. The band said "Syd wasn't into moving his lips that day."
