I love Badfinger. I can't listen to those guys - or The Raspberries - or Big Star - and NOT hear The Beatles influence. But that's a good thing, not a bad thing. It doesn't mean that they didn't have their own sound, because they certainly did.

Have to say that I'm partial to the concise pop radio hit arrangements. I have BBC in Concert 1972-1973 LIVE on CD, and those guys were, at times, a jam band - but who wasn't at the time, right? They even covered the old chestnut, "Feelin' Alright". It's a good, historically interesting listen that I dig out now and then, but I vastly prefer the classic studio cuts - "Come And Get It", "Day After Day", "No Matter What", "Baby Blue", all the great radio hits... back when mainstream radio still had great radio hits.
