Scubs, good luck with stuffing those controls through the f-holes - with mini pots it might be easier like you said. If I recall correctly, part of the solution used by Gibson on their Supreme, which has no rear access plate, was to use an over-sized rectangular jack plate so they could fish the pots in from there (the other part of the equation was that the pickup routs opened up into the body chambers). I noticed on my ES-339 that they used the exposed-braid coax wire tacked to the backs of the pots with one wire running in a circle connecting all the pots. This tied them together and holds them roughly in position so they'd want to go back where they should be after you stuff them in the f-hole. When fishing controls into a hollowbody Gretsch, I used mini pots and a small strip of brass connecting the two pots (like a mini control plate only on the inside) to hold them together at the right spacing as I fished them inside. Oh, and lots of dental floss or fishing line and a pair of slender Kelly clamps.

Ron, anything unusual about the pots you're waiting for? full-pass? blender? dual ganged? unobtanium alloy?
