And why the past tense? If you're thinking about authenticity, what's authentic in your book, beyond playing with a feeling? How does it connect to theory, legend, or history? Is playing blues a matter of selling your soul? Your woman running off with your blue tick hound? Riding the midnight mystery train? (As opposed to bombing on your GREs or learning to dampen your Martin so it sounds like a cracked Kalamazoo?....)
