Everything you all are saying is great - and you're giving me a ton of homework!
I do have one question - about up-and-down versions. Maybe I'm not opening my ears enough, but when I'm playing blues (about half my playing time), I find that (in C):
- C Eb E G C sounds expressive.
- C G E Eb C sounds chaotic.
Isn't that an example of a scale that sounds better one way than the other? Up, it's a blues scale, down, it's just some random notes.
Or - is "scale" the wrong word for what I'm trying to get at?
