The D-28 has heavier straight braces and the HD-28 has lighter scalloped braces. The HD will sound more open when new. You should hear more overtones from the new HD. Both will become canons over time but the HD will give you a head start. Some people think that the herringbone binding on the HD allows better top vibration than the traditional binding on the D-28.

I have a D-15 and an OM16. I have a life goal to buy an HD-28 before I turn 50.......that gives me 6 years. I need to start saving!
