Since musicians tend to favor albums with............
a lot of good, hot guitar work I guess any of the Emmylou Harris recordings from the seventies would do but my favorite is an obscure recording from 1974 called "Fiddlin' Frenchie Burke & the Outlaws". Frenchie is an OK singer but not my favorite but the instrumental rides on this album are phenomenol...........
I read a GP magazine interview with Albert Lee where he was asked "Do you practice much" to which he replied "No, but I have this album by Fiddlin' Frenchie Burke that I just put on the turntable and play along with to keep my speed up".
Frenchie is an awesome fiddle player but the lead guitarist (Randy Corner) is wonderful. If you can score a copy of it listen to his ride in the middle of "Orange Blossom Special". Also there's a pedal steel player named Robbie Springfield who's a hot player to boot. It's hard to believe but I talked to Robbie a year or two about this album and found out that he was only 15 years old at the time it was cut. It's out of print now but I burned my LP onto a CD so I could play it wherever I went..........JH in Va.
