Life is not fair. It has never been fair and it will never be fair. You cannot win every battle, you cannot always get your way. People are actually allowed to disagree with you and do things some way other than your way. Sometimes their decisions will severely infringe on our own freedoms and happiness. Unfortunately they are free to do so under the same laws which allow us said freedoms. Past generations accepted this as a part of life and learned and grew from it. Not so much anymore I guess.
