The great irony about American beers is that we used to have a vibrant plethora o' delicious beers and innovative brewers. When Prohibition hit, people drank homebrew but hops were scarce and the yeast had to be obtained from bakers.
After Prohibition was lifted, people opted for the taste of weak hops and baker's yeast. Thus the . . . um . . . unique American Beer Tradition was born. Maybe these ownership developments will help continue/further the Beer Renaissance.
