My advertising company used to do all the marketing for Anheuser Busch Employees Credit Union. So, I've made a LOT of trips to STL. I'll tell you, it was the only credit union with Beer on Tap in the Exec lounge.
It was odd it a lot of ways.
When having dinner with the management at any restaurant anywhere in the US you HAD to order a Bud product or you would lose the account. If you wanted a cocktail, you'd order a cocktail and a Bud -- and keep the Bud in front of you the entire night. Same if you wanted to order wine. In fact, at conferences I'd take the ABECU management to fine restaurants and order bottles of expensive wine (hence the term "wine and dine") and I'd also buy a Bud for every person at the table as well.
And every guy there had an "Auggie" story. Some story about August Busch III and how wacko, rich, conceited and did I mention wacko he was.
They were however a very good client for a good 5 years. One year we printed and mailed 1.2 million direct mail pieces for them. That was a good account. We still keep a 12 pack of Bud in the garage fridge. We don't drink it much but it's there.
