That's me - Camry owner.

Did you ever see the episode of Seinfeld where George has to make good time? That used to be me.

My goal was always to get in the fast lane as quick as possible so as to avoid all of the meandering and thoughtless driving occurring in the other lanes.

This past spring, I was involved in a multi-car entanglement, during rush hour, on a Friday. Soccer moms with stuff on their minds, folks like me getting off work and trying to plug into weekend plans, folks from out of state starting a weekend gataway...

...Long story short, the lane I was moving into (in the fast lane), no longer became available when everyone at least one lane to the right converged on each other. I checked up, but was doing about 63, and it was just a touch too fast - had to crank it to the left and onto the shoulder. Fishtailed right good, almost lost it twice, but managed to save it. However, during this melee, everyone else that had converged on each other still hadn't straightened themselves out, and one of them snagged my rear quarterpanel. Unfortunately for them, my Camry was a bit bigger, and they spun out.

I had never been involved in a highway bang up in my life, but this single one scared me silly...

So now I'm typically the dork in the slow lane, but I don't jump out and cut people off. I do the posted, but nothing under. I've found out the hard way that there isn't just enough reaction time (at least for a fella my age) at the higher speeds, unless you have something with monster brakes. Since I don't, I've relegated myself to the granny lane.

I've also found that I always catch up to the hurry-ups who pass me in town. All the speed in the world won't help you at all with stoplight timing.
