I was sitting by a country road in Northern California one day many years ago and a car pulled up. They guy driving rolled down the window and we chatted for a few minutes and he mentioned he was a musician. He asked me if I ever heard of "The Ozark Mountain Daredevils" and I said yeah. He said he played with them. I can't remember what he played, but we chatted for a while longer and he drove off.

Back in 1984, long after the band hit their peak, some version of it played at my aunt's wedding reception in Mill Valley, CA. Or that's what I remember her telling me, anyway. I never made it to the reception, because my friend and I got lost looking for the venue and wound up eating at Mel's on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge. I thought my memory of this might be a little faulty, but your story about running into the former bandmember in the same neck of the woods gives it more credence.
