Looks great, Marty. As far as pickups go, I'd stay clear of the noiseless- standard Tele pickups would be fine. If you are giving it to an old timer, he'll likely find regular pickups to be superior (I know, I'm kind of a geezer like that myself...) They act right. Even a used set would work well, be more economical, and nobody would know the difference anyhow.
