You could print a really large slide decal (or two and join them) with the fade on the edges and apply it to the whole body like the headstock decal - then clear coat it.

Saves doing the feathered spray round the edges. Decal paper's cheap. Printer can print pretty decent. Only thing that won't look quite right is the silver metallic backing, unless you paint it silver first, and then feather on the pink burst. It sure would take a lot less clear coats to cover a decal than to cover textured wallpaper .
