I have a set of hot golds in a partscaster strat. Essentially they are hotter versions of the old Lace sesnsor gold. However, they seem more than just an overwound gold, they somehow sound both fuller and more strat like thant the golds did. I actually like them a lot in that partscaster guitar. Quiet, and good "stratty" sounds without being a clone of any vintage pickup; but with some power as well. Decent quack in the combined positions.
So, if you are looking for an identifiable strat sound, but do not necessarily have to have the "1957" or the "1963" sounds, these may be for you. However, if you just have to have that absolutely vintage sound, then you need to look elsewhere.
