I removed the pole pieces from both pickups after reading your earlier posts.
I like it. I didnt notice the drastic differance you are describing but I also have replaced the pots with 500K.
What I did get was alot more clarity. So I'm keeping them that way.

At the same time I used the micro tilt to shim up the neck so I could raise up the bridge saddles to get rid of those set screws digging in my palm.
