So I now have 2 options, get a brand spanking new Highway 1 tele (I do like them I do) or I have also found a private seller selling on a 84 made in japan tele (with some slight wear and tear, a few dings and very slight fret wear mainly). Id save $200 going with the 84 tele and would love it because it reminds me of Jeff Buckleys 83 tele, however as its my first tele Id quiet like it to be pristine. So which do I chose!?

Thanks
WELCOME to the TDPRI. Start with the MIJ tele and use it as a vehicle to discern YOUR tastes in telecasters. Mods are easy and fun. Saving 2 bills is a good start towards a set of custom pups. I'd recommend the CS NOCASTERS for original vintage tone +. Pots, switch and capacitor replacement, before pups is a recommended start with the MIJ if they are the MIJ original small pots and cheesy switch. You may just like the sound you get from this simple inexpensive mod. Good luck, whatever you choose! You'll be building one 'fore long, I'd bet.
