Some interesting ideas. But I think that Joe Cocker and Mad Dogs and Englishman is close. but I would nominate the Original Delaney and Bonnie and Friends - Gerry McGee, Carl Radle, Jim Gordon, Jim Keltner, Leon Russell, Bobby Keyes, Jim Price, Rita Coolidge (was J.J. Cale involved at one time?- also Steve Cropper and Duck Dunn. Cant get better than this. Even with the addition of Clapton it was an already assume band.
Traffic would be my second pick.
