You could use the Telecaster lower horn shape on both sides of the neck. It's the screws that hold the neck on. I normally don't discuss sustain and tone but I doubt the body/neck contact on the bass side of a Telecaster has much affect on it.
You would have to use a modified pickguard shape however.
