Great looking guitars there Arlo. Over the years I've found that pine doesn't take stain that well. It often looks blotchy ..........at least my attempts using Minwax stains. I think it's best left natural like you did or sprayed with a tinted lacquer.
Hmmm............ I need to get myself some pine.
