Toadman, good luck!! Rock on!

Actually you've hit the nail squarely on the head - with me it's a hobby that I love as well as a source of income, so I'm double-zapped by the lack of gigs. Playing at home is all very well but for me it's not only the money, but also the buzz of live performance in the company of other musicians in front of a live audience that I miss sorely. It's a major part of what I do and the greater part of what I am, therefore the dearth of opportunities is frustrating and depressing.
All the same, I can see your point about having an occasional evening off but that presupposes that you have masses of work to begin with.
Meanwhile, my congratulations and best wishes to Toadman too... This may just make you smile - on the night before my son was due to be born in 1985, my wife was at home and I was waiting for the phone call to come and get her to the hospital while I was gigging at...Watford Labour Club.
