Jason - with all due respect - you sound like a canidate for a visit to a good technician.

The questions you're asking can't be answered accurately without more info than you're providing. While you won't generally hurt a solid state amp with higher numerical impedances you can smoke it with lower ones. You really should do a little more research and get the correct replacement speaker or get the original reconed or have the cone repaired.
