I know where your coming from. There are times I like to get in and get out when buying one thing too. Take grocery stores, for example, where they have those 12 items or less express lines. It's usually my luck to get someone in front of me who has that one item that needs a price check on. And the express line is no longer the express line...
Though lately I've been using those self-check out machines that are popping up more and more at different stores like Home Depot and such.
