And, yes, that does happen.
the golf club i work for a few days a week on late afternoons has almost no minorities and i have to admit, being a minority, i almost expect to see burning crosses

i have met a lot of racists in my life, and like has been said before, i much prefer the angry name calling racist to one of the genteel club members who treat me with respect but with reservation...i see it in their eyes and body language

the ironic thing is i have more education than these people who are the idle rich a lot of the time, or born rich, at least the ones who bug us, with many actually being decent upper middle class people, but my club i work at is not as bad as some other clubs in town, but it is always assumed i don't speak english so they don't talk to me

one club in town had some stanford and berlin eugenics types, but that is controversial, but the concentration camp leaders who did make it out of germany went to south america, and some to where i live and for some strange reason, a certain unnamed golf club attracts them having served on hitler's staff and the ss ( i did a little research on former third reich people who may have been an asset to our space program and modern medicine and northern california was a place hundreds ended up, as well as los alamos, new mexico, and that's where many hitler's former luftwaffe and ss engineers went when they came to america...it was either use them or have the soviets use them and many war crimes were swept under the carpet)

my dad, japanese american wwII vet, 6th army us engineers, often has breakfast with a former luftwaffe pilot and they share old war stories and strange stuff indeed comes out in their conversations...well i am getting off topic, but by no means are there entire third reich golf clubs :)

to make matters worse where i live, the one local eccentric who people called the "n.a.z.i." was actually a german-jewish survivor of the concentration camps but he had a thick german accent (concert promoter bill graham was beat up for being accused as the same thing when he was really german-jewish and lost family members to the blitzkrieg)

but i kind of like it that way when people think i don't speak english...i don't think i would like to spend time talking to david duke wannabe types
