The computer in question never has internet access (and it's not a laptop).
I think that you've misinterpreted what I did.
I went to the iTunes site from
computer A (which has internet access) and saved the iTunes download to a CD. I carried the CD to
computer B (which does not have internet access) and ran the install. It did give me a warning about not being able to register, but it also allowed me to cancel the warning, and the install successfully completed.
I used iTunes on
computer B last night with no issues at all.
