Not the sport itself,but the media coverage it gets.
You could add up all the other major team sports (basketball,hockey,baseball,soccer),and the total would pale in comparison to the coverage football gets.
Example:
All the aforementioned team sports have a preseason,regular season,and championship season........after that,an OFFSEASON.Which means that they aren't mentioned on Sportscenter/ESPN (or any other sports show) unless:
(1) There is a blockbuster trade
(2) Someone well known retires,or...
(3) Sadly,someone well known in the sport passes away.
This should be the standard for all sports,but not football.
The announcers seem to be frothing at the mouth to have an excuse to roll some footage of the sport of football---so if someone in the sport........
(A) Gets a traffic ticket
(B) Changes an agent
(C) Is rumored to have badmouthed a teammate/coach
(D) Gets a hangnail (okay,that was a stretch)......
The footage is rolled out,the plays are shown,and we are visually raped by a sport not even in season by non-important factors
Some other facts---
(1) Football is the only sport to clone itself so it can survive all year log (Arena Football---nothing more than a rubber bone to keep it going).
(2) All the other sports have special programming to feature the sport exclusively---only when that sport is IN SEASON (example--"Baseball Tonight" is only shown during baseball season). "NFL Live" is shown ALL YEAR LONG on ESPN. (I turned on ESPN to watch Baseball Tonight,only to see it shortened so they could also show NFL Live---a show about a sport that doesn't start till late summer,and this was April!).
Wanna go ON season? Hahahahahaha!
Baseball has "Baseball Tonight".
NBA has "NBA Fastbreak" (and maybe another,I'm not sure).
I don't know what hockey and soccer have.

Not to mention,after all these programs about football,it is also on Sportscenter.......and this isn't even counting College (College Game Day,blah,blah,blah......).
Again,I don't hate the sport-----but c'mon.My fav is baseball,but is there a program that covers it all year long?No!!! BECAUSE THERE IS NOTHING TO TALK ABOUT IN THE OFFSEASON.
ESPN/Sportscenter,ect......when football season is over,LET IT DIE!!!! LET IT REST!!!!! It will come back,I promise!!!
