Capt:
I bought a couple of SX teles earlier this year that I used for Esquire projects that I'm very happy with. To your questions:
1 - Not bad at all
2 - It can be done, but conversion to vintage bridge/3 brass saddles as Satelliteorders said takes some work. I did that on one but there's a much simpler alternative - simply drill 3 new holes in the rear lip of the stock bridgeplate to accept mounting screws for the 3 saddle setup - works great.
3 - One of mine weighs 7.6 lbs and the other is about 8.3 or so. Incidently both of mine are very resonant and play great. Nice chunky neck, and I was surprised that the large frets/flatter board are no issue for me - kinda like the feel.
Do a search for Rondo SX tele and you'll find lots of info, including detailed posts about fitting bridge/saddles.
BTW, that new tele must be very new - I was looking at the Rondo site a couple of days ago (thinking about buying another STL50) and didn't see it. Looks pretty cool..........may consider one of those instead.
