Well, not *anything* is better than those old speakers. Get the "best" you can afford.
You will not go wrong with the $50 Weber Sig 12B. I have my choice of speakers costing twice that amount and the 12B is still the better choice for me and 5F1, 5F2, 5E3 circuits.
But also look around for a used, in good condition, 12" 8 ohm speaker that's at least 20w.
Lemme add - I look for ribbed cone speakers which have later breakup, larger 1.5" voice coils, 30 oz or more ceramic mag, and 30 watts minimum power. Umm, gee, that's the 12B ... and only $50.
