One the Blues Junior and Pro Junior, the chickenhead knob has a skirt on the bottom that has to engage with the hole in the front panel. It prevents the knob from shaking side to side and gives a little resistance for better control feel.

I get a lot of newer Blues Juniors in for mods and when I encounter ones with the tight-on-the-shaft knobs, I just trim 1/4 inch off the pot shaft with a Dremel and a cutoff wheel so the knob goes all the way down. Instant cure for shaky controls.

Nothing wrong with the one the BJ I picked up last week. If there were, I wouldn't have bothered with it. The knobs are fine, as well. The reverb knob was loose, but it hadn't been set properly, or maybe someone took it off and didn't reseat it correctly. Got it popped in nice and tight now. Great little amp for money! I can't see them being discontinued, but I've seen other odd things in my time.
