Hello all - - a newbie here with a question.

I posted the below in the wrong thread yesterday I believe:

I'm wondering about the new gloss finish on the 2008 American Standard maple fretboards. I've played what I guess are satin-finished maple boards before (on a G&L Legacy Tribute), and do like the feel of these gloss boards (tried one in the store the other day).

Just trying to figure out the precedent here: most Fender maple boards have been satin-finished for a few years, is that right? Is this new gloss comparable to earlier model Teles? (any vintage photos I've come across have worn fretboards, as expected, so I'm unsure. I've also read that it's common to remove the gloss with steel wool ...).
