OK, who know their Line-6 speakers??
I have Spiders [as in Spider Uno, the first ones]. My son has the 112 and I have the 210 Stereo.
I used the two 10s from my 210 with a little CR19 Crate with a cheap Johnson pre-amp/processor for some front end help.
It sounded pretty darn good.
I got two 10" Line 6 speakers from an eBay seller, claimed for Spider, to make a cab for the CR19 for the heck of it. New old Stock Line 6, I guess he bought out the surplus when Line dumped the stuff for amps they do not have to warantee anymore.
Now the original Speakers in the Amp say TuneTone amp series on a big red sticker Line-6 obviously added to the speakers they had made for it.
Here is the question; The originals have a much bigger magnet and look to have a bigger voice coil. They are all marker 25/50 watts.
The amp is 25 watts stereo with 25 to each channel. What difference to expect overall and in the long run?
I put the new speaker in the 210 Spider to hear what they sound like.
They do not sound much different, other than stiffer due to being brand new. But they do break up with the O-drive easier and more, with less twist of the OD knob. They do not sound more efficient, but as I said they are new and stiff.
For clear head room the originals did better, but the new smaller magnet ones do rock tones better to my ear.
I think I should leave the new ones in and break them in, then put them in the cab I will make.
Appreciate any/all comments, except the non-tube amp bashing ones.
I want a Princeton Recording Amp, but cannot afford it. And the Spiders are what we got for now. ;
