Absolutely go with a quality 12" speaker. For my Li'l Dawgs Champster Specials and Princes I've been using both JenNeo 12's and Weber Sig 12B speakers (that 12B is a killer speaker at a ridiculously low price).
In any event, do yerself a favor and add a 1/4" Switchcraft jack to the chassis and wire that spare green OT tap to it and you'll have an 8 ohm out.
Or turn the existing RCA jack into an 8 ohm out by replacing the yellow 4 ohm OT wire with the green one, and use an 8 ohm internal or external speaker ... and add a mini DPDT switch to the chassis that'll select either the 4 or 8 ohm taps.
